About Me

Hi! My name is Sophie Janusko and I am a freelance journalist and photographer currently studying a Bachelor of Communication (Journalism) at RMIT University in Melbourne, Australia.
Whist completing my degree, I have participated in multiple student focused journalism events and organisations in radio, print and photography format.
At university, I extend working on my skills in the classroom as a member of RMIT’s Journalism Society leadership team in my role as Treasurer and the Student Staff Consultative Committee for my course.
As a diligent student, I hope to apply my skills to the professional setting in the future!
Audio
I am an ongoing volunteer for SYN Media where I currently present the stations high frequency tracks each week on the SYN10. Previously I was a host on Friday nights for SYN’s flagship radio music show ‘The Hoist‘ and presented on the flagship current affairs show ‘Panorama‘.
I have also participated in radio events such as 2025 election coverage for Junction Journalism as a live cross producer.
Listen below to an ‘as live’ explainer produced for the coverage.
During 2025 I was chosen to participate in ‘Parliament Express‘, a program run by the Parliament of Victoria with support from Express Media. The program involves mentoring and hands on opportunities for conducting interviews and writing workshops resulting in a published article about a Victorian Parliament initiative or profile.
I have also been published on Junction Journalism as part of the Grass Roots RMIT Rural Reporting Project. My feature article was published in a collection of stories focused on issues and challenges faced by those living in regional Victoria.
Photography
I am an avid photographer with experience capturing live events such as concerts, festivals and showcases including Queenscliff Music Festival 2025 and PBS ‘Rock-A-Bye Baby’.
I work regularly with clientele to produce high quality action and press images as seen published on social media and artist media.
